Shoulderpain

Freedom
To move

It is estimated that 2-5% of the population is affected by frozen shoulder*

COMMON CAUSES

  • Frozen shoulder can be a protracted condition which can restrict movement and cause pain and stiffness over months or even years.
  • Some people experience a condition known as tendonitis which is inflammation of the tendons.
  • Bursitis is also a common condition affecting the shoulder. This is described as swelling and inflammation of the bursa. The bursa forms under the skin and is a sac filled with fluid often formed over the joints which acts as a cushion between the tendons and bones.
  • A recurring source of pain may also be associated with arthritis.

SYMPTOMS

  • The shoulder is a joint which has the most mobility in the body. Shoulder pain can really impact reaching and shooting in sports like netball and basketball for example.

pain relief Solution

  • Keeping active is really important with this issue. Regular, gentle mobilisation of the shoulder will help to prevent stiffness and pain. A simple exercise to try is the pendulum stretch:
  • Relax the arm where the pain is, letting it hang straight down. Slowly begin to swing the relaxed arm by moving your body. Move it in a circle, then reverse the direction.

OTHER TIPS TO TRY

  • Stand upright with your shoulders gently back
  • Place a cushion behind your lower back and/or place a cushion on your lap so that you can rest your arm whilst sitting.

Suggested Treatment

  • Our Vulkan Classic range delivers therapeutic heat retention whilst drawing excess sweat away from the body.
  • The supports allow you to move the affected area more freely.
  • Comfortable for use during activity.
